Idolatry series Part 3 - ”Idolatry; Its Consequences
Sunday Jun 05, 2022
Sunday Jun 05, 2022
On this week's Podcast, Pastor Ed delves into the situation in our country and around the world as more and more people abandon Christianity and worship Idols.
"The majority of millennials have rejected the basic presepts of Christianity outright, according to the Huffington Post. They make it sound as though the anti-Christian battle is won and Christianity has died in America.
They have adopted the same anti-God mantra spouted by Atheists for over a century now.
America’s soul is on fire, and the building is about to be fully involved and beyond saving. The USA is a nation, and there will not be nations in Heaven. It’s put here for our benefit while we live here on earth. The USA was a great gift from God 246 years ago come this July 4, our Independence Day.
Only those who understand and value the gift God gave us in the USA will want to do all we can do to save her. But, if she falls, God is still with us. Idolatry may still be around, but we are not forced to accept it as our own. We must reject idols and return to worship God. 2 Chronicles 7:14 must become our battle cry if we are to see any hope of revival."

Idolatry Series, part 2 - Purity in a culture of idols
Saturday May 28, 2022
Saturday May 28, 2022
I’ve often wondered what it would be like to have been an Israeli and to have lived during Babylonian Captivity. As the idolatrous Babylon conquered Israel, the people found themselves facing terrible times as the King continually demanded they bow before his latest god or obey his latest edict forbidding them from praying to God. Idols and false gods were everywhere. When I think of these years, the first thing that comes to mind are the heroes of Israel during that time.
Daniel and his friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to name a few were true heroes of the faith during those days. They stood against idol after idol and refused to stop serving Jehovah God when ordered to do so by the King. Israel needed a Godly hero, and God sent them several of them. These heroes of the faith were instrumental in helping Israel find its way back to God; but only after many years of Babylonian captivity.
American idolatry has now hit a fever pitch as many Christians have caved and now worship the gods of sex, money, power and control. Pastors are coming out of the closet and admitting adultery and child sexual abuse at alarming rates. They are admitting they have been homosexual for years and have hidden it until now, leaving families to fend for themselves as they cavort their new “freedom.”
Heroes of the faith - just like they had in Daniel's day – that’s what our churches and families need today. These heroes of the faith, just like their companions who lived in Daniel’s day, can and will make a difference in this sin sickened world.
So, how does one become a Hero of the Faith, such as Daniel?
Pastor Ed delves into this question as we take a stand against sin in part 2 of the sermon series on Idolatry.

Idolatry. What is it and where is it?
Saturday May 21, 2022
Saturday May 21, 2022
When I think of “Idolatry,” I think about Elijah as he stood on Mt. Carmel against the pagans they called “baal worshippers.” These so called baal worshippers were comparable to today’s satanists. They worshipped the false god named baal, who was really satan in a cheap suit.
Do Christians also worship idols? What are idols and can a Christian worship an idol and serve Christ?
The Bible clearly says that we shall know the truth and the truth will set us free!"

Who Knocked a Hole in the Roof
Thursday May 12, 2022
Thursday May 12, 2022
This is a classic message that I've been preaching for many years. John Maxwell is the inspiration for this sermon. John talked about taking the initiative in our love and service to the Kingdom of Christ.
The pertinent question is, "Who knocked that hole in the roof, and what kind of people would do such an audacious thing?
From the message:
Do you ever get frustrated when the path you travel this life is difficult or perhaps even impossible to pass? Do you ever get tired of all the obstacles that hinder our trek along life’s road and wish you could just rest rather than keeping on working? Sometimes, it’s true that if we’d just keep on going a bit longer or work a bit harder to clear the road, we’d find our pot of gold….
In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. He then hid himself and watched to see if anyone would move the boulder out of the way. Some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it.
Many people loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none of them did anything about getting the stone out of the way.
A peasant then came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to push the stone out of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded.
After the peasant went back to pick up his vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been.
The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King explaining that the gold was for the person who volunteered and went to the effort of removing the boulder from the roadway.
Today, we will learn about four dedicated men who were determined to bring their friend to Christ. They paid the price, no matter what it took. Will you give up, or will you persevere until that “gold” is yours?

How to be a Godly Mother
Friday May 06, 2022
Friday May 06, 2022
600 college students were asked to write down the most beautiful word in the English language. 522 of them wrote the word "Mother."
The "Mom Ministry" is one of the toughest assignments God ever gave anybody! She’s got to be as insightful as a psychologist, tough as a marine corps drill instructor, gentle as a nurse. She’s got to be a labor and management negotiator. A teacher, an electrician, a plumber and a carpenter….It requires an endless supply of energy, a massive amount of patience, and iron will, and recognition of the fact that if she ever gets sick, she’s got to get well before the end of the school day.
Being a Godly Mother in an Ungodly World isn’t an easy task, but it is doable with God's Help. As for all us, we need to pray for our mothers often.
Today's podcast finds Pastor delving into the topic of being a Godly Mother. You don't want to miss it!

What about when you're overwhelmed as the world around us caves in from all directions?
When pressures increase, we often find that our faith will waver.
Is it really possible to strengthen our faith in troubled times and stand on that faith to bring us through the storm? Can I really have a strong, unwavering faith?

The Magnificent God We Serve
Saturday Apr 23, 2022
Saturday Apr 23, 2022
While at church one day, a couple of my friends were trying to get their 4-year-old daughter to put her quarter in the offering plate. But that cute little girl squeezed her fingers tightly around the quarter and would not let it go.
Much to the embarrassment of her parents and the snickers of people around them, they finally had to carefully pry each of her fingers off the quarter before it finally clinked into the offering plate.
Later that afternoon, her Mom heard the little girl as she played on the back yard swing. Every time she would get as high as she possibly could on that swing, she'd yell at the top of her lungs,
“God, I want my quarter back! -- God, I want my quarter back!”
How about you? Do you have a hard time giving to God?
Have you ever felt like that little girl?
You can't out-give our God!

The Horror of the Cross; The Glory of the Resurrection
Saturday Apr 16, 2022
Saturday Apr 16, 2022
Have you ever seen a person who wears a symbol of the electric chair? How about an empty Cross? The Cross, yes. The chair, no. Why? After all, both of these are instruments of execution used to put criminals to death as punishment for their heinous crimes.
The Cross was the most torturous, the most heinous instrument ever invented by mankind to put criminals to death. In Today's America, the Cross would be considered "cruel and unusual punishment" and therefore forbidden.
But, this horrible death was exactly the pathway our Messiah was taken down, and He was no criminal!
But, then, on that first glorious day of the week following His death, Christ was resurrected from the Dead! His Resurrection is paramount in Christianity. If it is false and Christ is still dead, then Christianity falls apart. However, if it is true (and we know it is absolutely true), the NOTHING else matters.
He's alive and I'm forgiven, Heaven's gates are open wide! He's Alive!

The Tragic Side of the Triumphal Entry
Monday Apr 11, 2022
Monday Apr 11, 2022
Have you ever thought about the tragic side of the account of the Triumphal Entry of our Messiah as He rode into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey?
All of the rejoicing and shouting unto the Lord, the palm branches and cloaks that lined His path as He rode into town. So what could ever be so tragic about that?
The answer is in today's special Podcast; "The Tragic Side of the Triumphal Entry."

Resurrection - Celebrate Life
Sunday Apr 03, 2022
Sunday Apr 03, 2022
Resurrection Day is two weeks from today as I upload this podcast. Frankly, I think we should celebrate some form of Resurrection Day every day of our lives! The Resurrection of Christ is THE central point of Christianity, the source of our joy and our life and the only thing that could pay the price for our sins.
Resurrection. Celebrate Life.

Peter’s Pathetic Denialof Christ
Saturday Mar 26, 2022
Saturday Mar 26, 2022
“Just as significant as his words of denial at this point was his “cursing” and “swearing.” Peter had resorted to the street language of the day to mask his identity from them. “I do not know this fellow you are talking about!” Three denials – just as Christ had predicted would happen.
I think it would be wise for us to refrain from a lot of criticism of Peter for this action. Most of us, if we found ourselves in that same situation, would not have acted any differently. It’s always easier to criticize than to assist someone who is faltering in their faith. Let’s learn to help people to practice faith over fear and faith over lackadaisical commitments.”

#SundaySermon excerpt
“Gideon was threshing wheat in a hidden place so that the Midianites wouldn't see him and steal his wheat, when an angel of the Lord came and sat next to him. The angel spoke to him and said, "The Lord is with you, mighty warrior."
"But sir,"Gideon replied, "if the Lord is with us why is all this bad stuff happening? Where are all the miracles our fathers (the people that crossed the Red Sea) told us about?"
The Lord’s reply to Gideon seemed strange to him when He said, "(You) Go with all your strength and save Israel from the Midianites. Have I not sent YOU to do it."

Wednesday Mar 09, 2022
A King who did not believe in the goodness of God, had a servant who, in all circumstances, said: “My king, do not be discouraged, because everything God does is perfect! He never makes a mistake!”
One day they went hunting and along the way a wild animal attacked the king. His servant managed to kill the animal, but could not prevent his majesty losing a finger.
Furious and without showing his gratitude for his life being saved, the King said “Is God good? If He was good, I would not have been attacked and lost my finger.” The King’s servant replied: “My king, despite all these things, I can only tell you that God is good, and he knows “why” all these things happened as they did. What God does is perfect. He is never wrong!” Outraged by the response, the king ordered the arrest of his servant....

The Lighthouse
Sunday Mar 06, 2022
Sunday Mar 06, 2022
"After they moved the lighthouse something happened.
They changed its purpose. It became a Park and a Museum where people go to admire it, enjoy it and hear heroic stories of ships that were saved by the light from its facility. But, if there happens to be a ship caught in a storm with malfunctioning instruments and no contact with the controlling facilities on land, there also is no lighthouse shining its light to save them. They’re too busy entertaining people and sharing their exciting stories of the past.
The Church was established by our Lord to be Life Saving Stations. But too many of them have become little more than a Museum. People aren’t being saved in them anymore.
The congregation only comes to ease their conscience or to hear the pastors and teachers who help them to feel good about themselves as they accept their sinful lifestyle as “normal,” and many come just to be entertained."
Well, how about you? Has your purpose changed, or do you remain faithful to "Let Your Little Light Shine?" Hear the message on this podcast.

God’s 3-D Plan for Mortal Man
Saturday Feb 26, 2022
Saturday Feb 26, 2022
Once upon a time, there was a lazy man who would always look for an easier way to feed himself. One day while he was searching for something to eat, he saw a fruit farm. He looked around and didn't see anyone guarding the fruits on the tree, so he quickly decided to steal some fruit. But as soon as he walked into the farm and started to climb the tree, the farmer saw him and started chasing after him. The lazy man saw the farmer coming at him with a stick, he got afraid and ran towards the forest nearby and went inside to hide.
After some time, he started to move on from the forest and while passing through, he saw this scene. There was a fox. It had only two legs, but still crawled on them happily. The lazy man thought, how can this fox stay alive in such condition?! The fox can't run, how he must be able to feed himself or stay alive from the threat of other animals.
Suddenly, he saw a lion coming towards the fox with a piece of meat already in his mouth. All the animals ran away and the lazy man climbed up on the tree to save himself but, the fox stayed there only, he didn't have the ability to run on two legs. But what happened next surprised the lazy man. The lion left a piece of meat which was in his mouth for the fox!

Greater is He That is In Me
Wednesday Feb 09, 2022
Wednesday Feb 09, 2022
"A little boy was visiting his grandparents on their farm. He had a slingshot to play with while he was out in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could never seem to hit his target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back home for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck.
Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly. Well, what do you know? He actually hit the duck square in the head, and it fell over dead. He was shocked and grieved – and mostly scared of what Grandma would say about her favorite duck.
In a panic, he hid the duck’s dead body in the wood pile, only to see his sister had been watching the whole time! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.
The next day, after lunch, Grandma said, "Sally, let's you and I wash the dishes." But Sally replied, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen. Then she whispered to Johnny, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes.
Later that same day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally just smiled and said," Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed home to help!
After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's... he finally couldn't take it any longer.
So, he came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you.
I was just wondering how long you were planning to let Sally manipulate you like that?"

"
A photographer for a national magazine was assigned to get photos of a great forest fire.
Smoke at the scene hampered him and he asked his home office to hire a plane.
Arrangements were made and he was told to go at once to a nearby airport, where the plane would be waiting. When he arrived at the airport, a plane was warming up near the runway.
He jumped in with his equipment and yelled, “Let's go! Let's go!” The pilot swung the plane into the wind and they soon were in the air.
“Fly over the north side of the fire,” yelled the photographer, “and make three or four low level passes.”
“Why?” asked the pilot.
“Because I'm going to take pictures,” cried the photographer. “I'm a photographer and photographers take pictures!”
After a pause the pilot said, “You mean you're not the instructor?”

The cop was stepping out of his car with that big pad in his hand.
Bob? Bob from church?
Jack sunk farther into his trench coat. This was worse than the ticket. A Christian cop catching a guy from his own church? A guy who happened to be a little anxious to get home after a long day at the office. A guy he was about to play golf with tomorrow. Jumping out of the car, he approached this man he saw every Sunday, a man he'd never seen in his police uniform.
"Hi, Bob. Fancy meeting you like this."
"Hello, Jack." No smile.
"Guess you caught me red-handed in a rush to see my wife and kids."
"Yeah, I guess."
Bob seemed uncertain. “Good,” he thought. "I've seen some long days at the office lately. I'm afraid I bent the rules a bit-just this once."
Jack toed at a pebble on the pavement. "Diane said something about roast beef and potatoes tonight. Know what I mean?"
"I know what you mean. I also know that you have a reputation in our precinct."
Ouch! This was not going in the right direction. Time to change tactics.
"What'd you clock me at?"
"Seventy-one. Would you sit back in your car, please?"
"Now wait a minute here, Bob. I checked as soon as I saw you. I was barely nudging 65." The lie seemed to come easier with every ticket.
"Please, Jack, in the car...."
Jack rolled down the window a mere two inches, just enough room for Bob to pass him the slip.
"Thanks." Jack could not quite keep the sneer out of his voice. Bob returned to his car without a word. Jack watched his retreat in the mirror. Jack unfolded the sheet of paper. How much was this one going to cost? Wait a minute. What is this? Some kind of joke? Certainly not a ticket. Jack began to read Bob’s note:
"Dear Jack,
Once upon a time I had a daughter. She was six when killed by a car. You guessed it - a speeding driver. A fine and three months in jail, and the man was free. Free to hug his daughters. All three of them. I only had one, and I'm going to have to wait until heaven before I can ever hug her again. A thousand times I've tried to forgive that man. A thousand times I thought I had. Maybe I did, but I need to do it again. Even now. . . Pray for me. And be careful. My son is all I have left. Bob"

The next time you’re in a battle with a Leviathan Demon, what do you do? Pastor Ed delves into that topic on today's podcast. Here's an excerpt:
"During WW2, American pilot Bob Hoover was trapped as a German prisoner near the end of the war. One day, he saw an opportunity to escape.
A German fighter plane had been left unattended, so he took it.
However, it wasn’t until Hoover was in the air that he realized how insane his plan was.
He’d intended to fly to Holland, but he realized that he would undoubtedly be shot down when they spotted him in a swastika-adorned plane.
As soon as he saw an open farmer’s field, Hoover landed the plane there.
Dutch farmers charged at him with pitchforks, believing he was a downed Nazi pilot.
Hoover tried yelling to them, but they couldn’t understand.
It seemed like the end—until a British army truck drove over.
Hoover yelled, “I’m a Yank!”
The British soldiers translated for the Dutch farmers and they took Hoover home."

"
Clovis Chappell, a minister from a century back, used to tell the story of two paddleboats. They left Memphis about the same time, traveling down the Mississippi River to New Orleans.
As they traveled side by side, sailors from one vessel made stinging remarks about the snail's pace of the other. Words were exchanged. Challenges were made. And the race began. Competition became vicious as the two boats raced down the mighty Mississippi River through the Deep South.
One boat started to fall behind. Just didn’t have enough fuel. There had been plenty of coal for the trip, but not enough for a race....."
Find out what happened and who won the race as Pastor Ed brings the message entitled "The Church Triumphant" (alive and well!!).
